jackson aaron burr was born the second son in a family of four children, all named after historical figures. his father was a football scout, and his mother taught history at the local university in san diego, california. the pressure of working hard and achieving goals was big for the burr kids, their father constantly trying different things to cater to each of their talents. jackson had a talent for music and athletics, so much of his childhood was spent going back and forth between football practice and piano lessons. eventually his mother knew it was going to come down to a choice for jackson, considering he was balancing school, band practice and being a runningback on his high school football team. when the time came for him to decide, he realized that music was the thing that was keeping him grounded. despite the chance to play football at a reputable school, he quit to pursue his dreams of music much to the chagrin of his father.
in his senior year of high school, he and his best friends formed the band traincar brawl, the name originating from a fight that the drummer once saw when he was taking the train to visit his father as a child. they started writing, recording and putting together demos that they could take to the record labels in los angeles. jackson was never looking for immediate success, just an outlet for all of the creativity that he found in himself.
after their third album, the band went on hiatus so that they could all pursue musical endeavors of their own. jackson had been writing his own music with the intention of releasing it under a different name. fourscore and seven was a tribute to his history teacher mother and a play on the history puns woven deep into the burr family. it was a different sound, a different direction, and a new chapter for jackson. but it was a chapter plagued with suffering. right before the release of his album, he had to cancel all of his appearances because he was getting sick. after battling cancer for a year, jackson went into remission and picked up where he left off as best as he could.
after going through rigerous training to get his body back into shape, jackson put all of his focus into his musical career. between tours, and albums, he's had some time to focus on himself and relationships in his life. fourscore and seven served as an outlet for everything that he felt during his sickness, a representation of a time in his life where he had to be a warrior. eventually that adventure transformed into a new platform. over the last few years, jackson has been putting his love of music into helping others achieve their dreams, along with his own foundation that raises money for cancer research.
despite his popularity, jackson has always maintained his ability to be a fan favorite, taking the time for his fans. he often does special vip at his shows, the proceeds going towards the dear jack foundation. he stops to take pictures, always goes out to greet people, and has even been known to order food for people in line at his shows. he is by all accounts humble when it comes to the fame and popularity that he has developed since his days in traincar brawl.
media perception: jackson has always been viewed as friendly and very social when it comes to both the media and his fans. he's become a social media addict, though there are parts of his life that he likes to maintain his privacy about.
